Though the word "tatoo" only dates back about 250 years, the practice is apparently thousands of years old. Examples are found from time to time that push its origins back further and further into our ancient past. Whether to make marks that differentiate us from the animals, or from other tribes, or simply to adorn and beautify our bodies, tatooing has been around for centuries and will endure for many years to come. There is something so very powerful about putting a permanent mark on one's body.
